Immediate Dentures

An immediate denture is one that is fabricated prior to the natural teeth extraction and inserted into the mouth immediately following the extraction procedure. An immediate denture may be complete (full) or partial.

While having an immediate denture placed in the mouth right after the surgery may seem odd, it helps with the healing process a great deal:

– it helps control the post-surgical swelling and should be worn without removing for 3 days
– it prevents harmful bacteria from entering the wounds and causing an infection
– it allows the patient to feel confident while interacting with others
– it helps the patient re-establish the speech pattern ahead of time before the permanent dentures are placed
– it helps preserve, maintain, and support the soft tissue and contours of the face during the healing process
– immediate dentures can look very good and improve patient’s look and smile
– it helps process (chew) the soft food, aiding the digestive system

While your dentist and the dental lab will strive to make a perfect fit for your immediate denture(s), some minor adjustments may be required, because of the unpredictability of the post-surgical bone reshaping and soft tissue shrinkage. Since the original impressions for an immediate denture are taken before the removal of the teeth, a soft temporary reline material may be used to refit your denture, if needed, during the healing process. It takes up to six months for the tissue to heal completely and finalize the permanent dentures.

Wearing an immediate denture may seem like a challenge and requires patience. The tong getting used to the “bulky” teeth, the feeling of not having adequate room inside the mouth, practicing certain sounds, irritable gums, difficulty chewing, and not being able to eat your favorite foods—this is to be expected during the healing process.

Our friendly staff at CV Dental care will answer all your questions and find the best possible solutions to make your smile perfect.

Dental Implants

Adults can loose teeth for a number of reasons: trauma, tooth grinding, poor nutrition, gum disease, and serious illness, such as diabetes or autoimmune disease. Missing teeth can impair the ability to chew and digest food properly and has serious emotional and psychological consequences for one’s self esteem and quality of life.

Dental implants replace missing tooth roots, help preserve the bone and facial structure, and provide the strength and stability that is required to chew virtually any food without struggling. A dental implant procedure is considered the best solution for people missing one tooth or an entire mouthful of teeth. Dental implants can last much longer than any other dental restorative work, even a lifetime, if properly taken care of.

A dental implant is a titanium pin–an artificial tooth root implanted into the jawbone through a painless and simple procedure. Implants are customized based on your particular oral situation. They are strong, fully functional, and prevent further tooth decay. Strategically placed in the jawbone where the teeth are missing, they osseointegrate, or fuse with it to form a strong and long-lasting foundation for your replacement teeth. Dental implants can enhance your natural smile and help preserve your facial structure from bone deterioration.

Dental implants offer the health and aesthetic benefits of permanent, naturally functioning tooth replacements. Whether you are missing one tooth, multiple teeth, or all of your teeth, CV Dental Care offers a reliable tooth replacement option.

Evaluation for Dental Implants

If getting dental implants is your preferred choice for restoring your natural smile, at CV Dental Care, as part of your evaluation, we ask that you undergo a comprehensive medical history, dental and radiographic examination. We do this to make sure we have a full understanding of your overall medical and dental health, and to determine what is required to make dental implants a success for you. During these consultation visits, your specific needs and considerations will be addressed by either one of our highly skilled doctors or by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon referred by our practice.

Dental Implant Procedure

The placement of dental implants usually requires two surgical procedures. First, the dental implants are surgically placed into the jawbone. For two to six months following the surgery, the implants are below the surface of the gums and gradually integrating with the jawbone. A temporary prosthesis (dentures) may be recommended so you can eat soft foods.

After the implants have bonded to the bone, your surgeon will remove the gum tissue over the implants and place a small healing collar. After the gum tissue has healed for two weeks, your dentist is ready to start making your new teeth. A post or abutment will be attached to the implant for the replacement tooth to sit on. The dentist will take an impression to have the replacement tooth fabricated. The entire procedure for the implant placement to the final replacement tooth can take up to six to eight months. Most patients do not experience any disruption in their daily life.

Same-Day Crowns

Same-Day Dentistry with Same-Day Crowns!

Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology has been revolutionizing many industries, including dentistry. Remember when it used to take two separate appointments to get a dental crown? Even just a few years ago, patients had to endure mouthfuls of messy impression materials and wearing temporaries for weeks at a time. Now, with our E4D Dentist® system, it is all a thing of the past!

Our doctors can now complete beautiful restorations like crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers in-office, in only one appointment.

Benefits for our patients:

  • Safe and simple procedure
  • One appointment
  • Advanced laser technology provides absolute precision
  • No need for temporary restorations
  • No unpleasant or messy impressions

Our state-of-the-art system allows Drs. Bigler, Rassam, Standage, Barela, Garlick and Weir to replace conventional impression methods with a clean, fast digital scan that is obtained in just a few minutes through a series of photographic images taken in the mouth. Combining this scanned data with our advanced software, we’re able to design a custom, permanent restoration. A milling unit then fabricates your restorative design quickly and conveniently, right in our dental office.

Your final result is a natural-looking restoration of superior strength that perfectly matches the surrounding teeth, making your crown, veneer, or filling virtually undetectable. The elimination of impressions, temporaries, and second appointments enhances the entire dental experience for our patients. As an added bonus, many of our patients love watching their new tooth come to life in the milling unit right in front of their eyes!

The E4D Dentist® system was created by D4D Technologies, LLC, headquartered in Richardson, TX. For more information please refer to the D4D Technologies Website, www.d4dtech.com.
