Candice Richins – Hygienist

Candice was born and raised in Claremont, California. She attended Cal State Long Beach for her undergraduate degree and then completed her hygiene degree here in Arizona at Mesa Community College. She wanted to be a hygienist because it would maximize her face-to-face interactions with patients, which is her favorite part of being in the dental field. She loves being able to help patients manage their dental anxiety and help them return to a state of oral health that they did not previously know was possible.

While in hygiene school, Candice served as the president of the Student American Dental Hygienist’s group, which drew upon her leadership, organizational, and philanthropic skills. She was the recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award, a presidential recognition awarded under the Obama administration to celebrate “the impact made in bettering our communities.” She has also received the Colgate S.T.A.R award for “compassion in patient care, enthusiasm for community service, and dedication to and enjoyment of the profession of dental hygiene.”

Candice is certified in non-surgical periodontal therapy, local anesthesia, and both laser bacterial reduction and laser-assisted periodontal therapy. She loves learning and expanding her education to keep up with the latest innovations in the dental field so that she can better serve her patients.

Candice chose to practice in Arizona because she feels that it is extremely important to make a positive impact within the community in which she lives. To her, dentistry is all about getting to know her patients individually and building relationships with them. Once that relationship has been established, she is better able to educate and help them achieve their goals of having a healthy mouth. Her ultimate goal is that each patient will leave the office feeling better than when they first came in.

Candice and her husband do not yet have any children, but they do have several horses, chickens, and two dogs. She loves going to the beach and and spending time with her family. She also loves animals and anything service related because she loves helping others.

Sarah Scott Hygienist

Sarah Scott is a native from beautiful, sunny Arizona! She was born in Mesa and grew up in Gilbert. She attended Mesa Community College for her undergraduate degree and continued her education at Rio Salado College to complete her education to become a hygienist! While it was a lot of studying and work, she made life-long friends and she had amazing instructors who helped her graduate with honors! Sarah has always wanted to work here in Arizona, because it is where she is from and she has no plans on moving away!

Tom Bowen – Lead Hygienist

Tom was born and raised in Mesa, Arizona. He attended Northern Arizona University for his undergraduate and also for his hygiene degree, for which he graduated with honors. He chose to attend hygiene school at NAU because of the longer, in-depth hygiene program. As part of his schooling, he completed an internship as well as outside rotations, all of which allowed him to gain additional experience working with patients and developing his skills.

Mary Beth Powers – Hygienist

Mary Beth began working for Canyon Vista Dental Care in 1986. For her, the most fulfilling part of her job, and the reason that she loves dentistry so much, is because of the close relationships she has formed with her patients at the office in the last 30 years. She also loves watching and helping patients reach their dental goals, and then helping them to maintain their beautiful dental work and smiles. She believes that it really is teamwork between her and her patients, and she is proud to have many good “students.”

Caitlin Jarman – Hygienist

Caitlin Jarman was born in Mesa, Arizona and raised in Gilbert, Arizona. She went to Mesa Community College for her undergraduate degree as well as for hygiene school. One of the main reasons she decided to enter the dental field was because it fit so well with her personality. Others would describe her as an extrovert, and as a result, she loves to get to know people and learn about their lives and hear their fun and interesting stories.
